Just done a straight swap bathroom suite for someone this week they never asked a price but i said be about two half days work and they gave me green light.

Ripped old out re-carcassed new pipework around bathroom , installed new bath and panel , fitted new basin and close coupled WC.

Granted i never rushed it but with running around for materials and time on job i charged £400

Just checked my phone and have text saying my price is high , and another saying they thought it would be lower .


what would you lot charge for a straight forward plumbing bathroom swap over?

This can be a tough one and the reason behind it is because the customer buys the standard bathroom set for around £150 ( in some cases ) and when we charge twice what theyre bathroom cost they get upset , me i think your reasonable but ive came accross this problem twice with straight bathroom swaps, like for like, ive blitzed in a day and when i charged £300 i get told but the set only cost half that , so now i like to know where i stand with custumers b4 job goes ahead , 400 is dirt cheap

I'd say 400 is very reasonable. They've clearly got no balls, texting to moan about the price! Tell them it's plus vat. Merry chuffing Christmas.

Sorry hammers they saw you coming, I don't agree with what they done to you but price always agreed before work, even better in writing. Even if you say that you advertise your rates on internet or done previous work for them, it going to be tricky if you take that one to small claims

wrong they have all my terms and conditions prior just not a price so can charge what i want .

pinged over a breakdown of hours and rates and immediate reply from them of thanks and paying now

some people just don't understand cost

You never put that in your original post mate, if they have accepted your t and c s, no problem, invoice them, always worth putting late payment law in there and non payment or part payment of final invoice, file an online small claims

reasonable price for labour only, would expect it to be more if you supplied pipe and fittings etc

also dont call it a straight swap as they implies to the customer its a case undo a couple screws, disconnect the water, swap and reconnect, its never a straight swap as we know

Min of 500 for me, plus any bits. Would have been new traps, new pann connector, isos on hot and cold if not there, silicone etc etc etc.

You should definitely have given them a price before starting, you should know that one by now. Its hard enough getting paid when they know the price.
As for the bill, I'd ring them and tell em you'll be round for your money!
Out of interest, ask them how much they think they should be paying?

That's reasonable mate £450 is what I charge allowing £100 for bits and pieces and smash it out in a day. Boarding of floor and a shower is £650 tho and will be stretched out for 2 days.

Yes I have, you'll be looking at around £60. If it wasn't for his big st bernard dog by his side he would have collapsed with shock.

Ive just been paid £175 fit only for a bathroom swap I done as a favour for my girlfriends dad, I was doing it for free and he insisted on giving me something so idd stick to your price
