Coal heating system help

I'm going to be helping a friend renovate his bathroom. He has a coal heating system will he be able to continue using his fire whilst we work on the water and heating pipes once the stopcock has been isolated? Will it be ok to drain some hot water out the tank and relocate radiator pipes

Water yes maybe depending on the type of cylinder he has

Heating only if your not touching any rads etc

So whilst we move the radiator pipes the fire will have to be off?

If it is a primatic then It's best left to cool before doing any pipe work (hot feed for basin/rad pipes? If not then just isolate cold main and run hot off until it stops?
