Hi all,

I have just had a new home extension built and added 4 more radiators to the system.
So I now have 12 radiators run of a glow worm 30cxi.
I was reassured from the gas engineer who installed the new radiators that the boiler could easily handle the added demand.
The problem I have is that we added a double panel column radiator in the kitchen. This rad is really struggling to heat up. The flow pipe to the rad gets hot and one of the columns slightly warm, and that's about as good as it gets. so far I have done the following:

made sure there is enough pressure
bled all radiators
checked valves are fully open
removed rad and flushed it out

I have turned off all other trv's and only then does the rad heat up, and it heats up fully.
I am aware that the rad has a inline baffle or similar and when I removed the radiator to flush it, this was correctly placed at the flow pipe. It seems the water isn't circulating the radiator very well.
One last point to mention is that the length of 15mm pipe work to this radiator is probably around 19 meters and then obviously back. Would this be too far?

many thanks

Allan

How many radiators are on the 15mm run? I'd say the boiler is adequate, it will be a pipework issue or a balancing job.

hi, thanks for the reply.
3 radiators on that run, and only the column rad is any distance from the connection to the 22mm pipes.

thanks again

Can you get a picture up?

I've been to a fair few similar jobs where the column rad has specific sides for flow and return. They've been piped up wrong and this was exactly the fault, do you know make and model?

From memory the flow tends to be on the left.

Hi,

this is is the link to the radiator,

And yes, flow is on the left.

i suspect the radiator has been installed correctly as when all other radiators are turned off and the heating is turned up high, it works fine.

many thanks

Allan

It's from Bathempire, they call it a '1800x480mm-anthracite-double-oval-tube-vertical, Ember premium radiator'!

And yes, flow is on the left.

i will try to upload a photo tomorrow.

many thanks

This sprang to my mind also.

Allan it has to be pipe from the correct connection. There are 4 connections and at least 2 of the can be on the left. On some rads all four can.

See if you can dig out the installation instructions or call the company that makes them, there will be a mark as to how connection should be made.

As for turning off all the rads and it working, it probably does because it has the full force of the pump on it.
