My question is simple;
Does anyone have factual knowledge of the 600mm minimum distance.

Is this a regulation or a recommendation?

Background.
Neighbourd new boiler installed with Flue over my boundary. I approached the new owner his response was 'do your f*ckn worst'.

So I'm on it. Below is 'gas safe' reply and waiting for building control to report back.

If building control washes their hands of it and tries to put it down the legal route of boundaries it says. Lad's bang flue where you want as long as it's safe.

Thanks

Gas safety response
I can confirm that Gas Safe Register had written to xxxxxxx on xxxxx indicating that a concern has been raised with the property flue, and offering to undertake an inspection. Your details have not been divulged in our correspondence. To date we have received no response from xxxxxx authorising us to attend.

As per our Consumer Policy (attached for reference) Gas Safe Register has no right of entry concerning gas work carried out in your neighbours’ property, unless we are requested to investigate concerns raised directly by the property owner. As we have received no such contact we are unable to take further action.

We would suggest that you raise this issue with both your local Building Control and Environmental Health office. Where there is an immediate concern for gas safety, for example if you suspect that you are being exposed to products of combustion from the neighbouring flue, we urge you to contact the National Gas Emergency Services Provider on 0800 111 999.

If you wish to reply to my email, please reply to [email protected] this will mean you will receive an acknowledgement that we have received your email, and it will still be answered in my absence. Please also note, when you email us, we aim to reply within 5 working days. If you haven’t heard from us within that time, please do check your spam or junk folders.

Just block the flue terminal or air intake terminal with tape or something.
This will block the fan pressure switch inside the boiler and not allow it to fire up.

When the neighbours want to access you property to check the flue, deny them access.

On second thoughts, just block the air intake section of the flue, if the boiler fires up at least you will enable the products of combustion to escape from their property and not end up on a manslaughter charge.

You could always spray a hose into the flue and say it was your sprinkler system.

Building Regulation. Part J Diagram 34 (assuming its a gas boiler)

Boundary as defined in paragraph 0.4 (4) op cit.

Note that "Smaller separations to the boundary may be acceptable for appliances that have been shown to operate safely with such separations from surfaces adjacent to or opposite the flue outlet."

So "We would suggest that you raise this issue with both your local Building Control and Environmental Health office." is the correct way to go.
