Hi, first post and it may be a daft question about a combi boiler, got a new system installed about a year ago,not a bad system, but the problem is, keeping the temperature stable, it comes on and reaches the temperature set by the thermo, then the whole system shuts down, and then the temp has to drop quite a bit before kicking back in again and the room gets much cooler before system fires up, so the question is, is this normal?? or is something not right.

is the room stat near a rad

Boiler is a potterton gold 24 HE, remote salus stat, thermostat is on opposite wall from nearest radiator about 6 feet away.

There is an option of 1 or 1/2 a degree tolerance, that is set to 1/2 a degree.
Also should the water pump shut down when temperature is reached or should it keep circulating the water throughout the system even though the burner is off?

The pump will only run on to cool the boiler. I suspect the thermostat.

Unlike a conventional boiler where the pump continues to circulate the water and the flame kicks in as and when the temp drops.
My first thought was the thermostat, it just does'nt seem sensitive enough, the thermostat readings seem to drop slower than the actual room temperature.

cheers for the advice.
