Hello All,

Has anyone contracted for British Gas? Does it pay well? I had an enquiry recently. Just wanted to hear from those that have had first hand experience with this?

Cheers

Lots of threads about this topic on here already, Can pay well depending on what your doing and where you are. If you're going direct then the pays better, if through an agency well the rates can be pretty dismal. There is also the issue of recalls, where you can do the job e.g.servicing a boiler, the customer calls back next day on an unrelated issue and you don't get paid as it can be classed as a recall. Pretty unfair sometimes imo.

a mate of mine has and said it was a nightmare , can ask him if its ok to pm you his number if thats any use to you.. hes in manchester.. cheers

I've been doing it 2 days a week for a year, its installs i do. Once you get used to their way of working its fine. It pays not too bad, just depends on the surveyor of the job we do. Surveyors never seem to have a clue! Good thing is you get a lot of scrap plus our vans always stocked up with their stuff. Usually get paid between 2-4 weeks after each job

Been servicing is the summer and breakdowns in winter for over a year now. Do 1 day a week as can't find any more time in diary! Like all large companies, bite your tongue, play the game. First payment DID take about 11 weeks but now is approx 8 days paid direct.
