Could I have a combi to single pipe system ???

I have a gas fire / back boiler which seems to be beyond repair as constantly cutting out even after I had new valve fitted.
I've had quote for combi but its quite expensive as the current system is single pipe and plumber says if he connects it as it is it will breakdown in 6 months. Is this correct ? Any ideas of alternative ? Thanks, John

If it is a single pipe system it is not suitable for any new boiler as it is inefficient and against building regs. You would also need the system powerflushing. As your plumber says, it is more realistic to replace the whole system. I don't see how the boiler would break down after 6 months even if you could connect it.
