I traced a boiler leak (Worcester greenstar 28i junior) to the flow regulator housing. I is a plastic housing for the actual flow restrictor and is sealed by two o rings. The o rings were fine but the plastic had become brittle and crumbly disintegrating. The boiler is only a few years old and this part is on the cold water side. Is corroding plastic parts a known problem?

It is illegal to remove the case of that boiler unless you are a gsr.
