Whats you're local scrappie giving at the moment, I took a van load in friday morn and got £2.80/kilo for braziery and was quoted around £100 per tonne for general scrap (skip full of rads/boilers/fires etc)
What's the prices around the country
I don't mind getting a bit less as I still get cash:santa3:

Buy some scales. I was getting fiddled for a few kg ! Use emr website.

What do your scrappies class plate to plate heat exes as? Mine says they're worthless as they're mixed copper and stainless and it costs the processors a lot to separate them...

In the last week or so, it's dropped massively due to issues in China.
I'd keep hold of whatever you've got until it recovers.

Loads of them write you a cheque then charge you 5% in a caravan to cash it! Even the bigger boys!

I can't remember and I can't tell you as I have to hide the receipts from the wife as she takes my tool money

Watch the BBC website on this page

You can see the London Metal Exchange price for new copper. The scrap rate will move in conjuntion with the LME rate.

Looks like them 2 wee bags of pipe and tub of brass will be staying in the van 🙁

Hang on... How you still getting cash?

Took me a while to find this unscrupulous fella, he gives me cash for the copper and a cheque for the motors (pumps) which is usually around 10-15 quid made out to.....not me
Don't know how he gets away with it though

Do they refuse to take them, or take them and pay you next to nothing because they say they are worthless

Pay next nothing mate. Goes in the same pile as boiler casing and old flues etc.

Beginning to feel it's not worth stripping boilers any more.

I just had the same poblem masood with plate to plates when weighing them in. So i wont be bothering keeping them anymore. Still strip boilers though old combi's are still for brass and copper.

I lump plates in with my pile of stainless, not worth loads but adds up when you have enough to make it worth while.

I've just removed eleven 70's rads in a house and stacked them up in the kitchen, a few heavy doubles as well.

What roughly are these worth and what is the best thing to do with them? I've stuffed my van full of copper & cylinder.

What's a rad worth? £2 each??

If you get any good big hex I'll take them off your hands I need a could for a wee project I'm going to try in my house lol
