I am a newly self-employed plumber and I am finding it difficult to find customers at the moment.
This may be partially to do with the worrying economic climate but mostly I think it is because I haven't advertised my services.

I have a very very small budget for this (due to a lack of jobs thus profit) so I was wondering if anyone here could give me any recommendations as how to broaden my customer base without spending much money! Or otherwise the most cost-effective ways of recruiting customers.

Thanks very much for your time

print your own flyers then take two or three days to post them in different areas you should be able to post around 3000 in 2 days also take your cards to tile shops, bathroom shops, talk to others if there too busy they may offer to sub work to you it may be just small jobs but anything is better than nothing

Hi. I totally agree with the last post. I would like to add, knock doors and tell the person what your about. You may well find work comes instantly. If not after say 30 homes ask them what image you project, (every body likes character assassination) act according to feed back. Also target roads and street that have the potential to provide the type of work you feel cool about. Good Luck

put a free advert on yell.com ive got work from that before now,
but they are a bit of a nuisance keep ringing you up to up-grade your ad, but its an 0800 number which u start to recognise after about the 900th time theyve rang so if u dont or cant afford to upgrade just dont answer it till you can..

I'm in a similar position having exausted all of the work that found me when I first set up.

Have you had your van sign written? I'm just having this done as it seems to be one of the cheapest forms of advertising.
