Cycling Pumps

Hi all,

Excellant forum you guys have got here, this is my first post and hope that somebody will have some good advice for me.

Just replaced two Stuart Turner CFL single ended pumps for a client due to one of them failing and the replacement model not compatable with the CFL's.

The replacements are two Stuart Turner Kennet KFL 10/2. The flow switches have been linked across to enable both pumps to run on either hot or cold demand.

All outlets work fine except on two basin mixers. Both are Axor Stark mixers and both cause the pumps to cycle when only hot or only cold are called for. If a mixture of hot and cold is requested then the pumps run correctly.

My suspicions are with the small bore european flexy connectors that have been used on both mixers. Just wondered if any body has any thoughts or advice.

Put a couple of flapper type non return valves on the inlet side of the pumps. You will find that the pumps are sensing a slight differential in the water pressure and cycling the pump. Quite a common problem. Sometimes they work for ages then start doing this.
