Hi this is my first post so I hope I get in all of the details.

I'm a landlord of a flat in London and I'm currently abroad. We have Foxton's managing our property (which was probably a mistake) and their contractor has quoted us 710 pounds (+VAT) to change the main heat exchanger in our Ferroli F24 boiler. I asked for a breakdown - they quoted 400 for the part and 310 for labour saying it will take 3-4 hours to complete the job. I've found the part a bit cheaper online but I've got no idea how long it takes to make the change.

With VAT this is going to come to 850 quid which seems really expensive. Our tenants currently have not hot water or heating so this is really urgent. Can anyone tell me if this sounds like it's reasonable or are they ripping me off as usual.

Thanks.

To be honest would say that that is over the top but then I'm in Yorkshire.ferroli are not well known for lifespan I would consider fitting a new boiler as most manufacturer's are offering 5 to 7 years parts and labour warranty's at the moment which is great for landlords as long as you have them serviced once a year.

you can probably get a new ferrolli for that and then a few 100 to install it, 7 year warranty included. Mr foxton seems a tadge pricey, you need a good reliable plumber on call
