Hope someone can offer me advice about this problem.

The valve is buzzing when the heating and hot water are not on via the timer but the system is still powered up via the main fuse. I have taken the valve motor off and and watched it motor over when the ho****er thermostat is switched on and off by turning past the tempreture switching point.

It seems very slow when motoring over against the spring.

Is this usual or does it need changing.

It also feels fairly warm to the touch (the white plastic cover)

Cheers Nick

Might be worth changing the whole cabboosh for a Honeywell as they run for years without problems.

Thanks guys, would a honeywell motor be a direct swap for the danfoss, including the same wiring. Making the change easy for me to do.

i agree with the above. change it for a honeywell.

Good advice, the honeywell has a rubber ball mechanism, compared to the danfoss 'rotating shoe'. Rotating shoe, type water sections are prone to debris between moving surfaces within the water section. This creates a resistence to the motor that moves the rotating shoe.

There is a slight difference with wiring - the Honeywell requires an earth, the danfoss is double insulated so does not require one. Hence you will have to make sure to terminate the earth wire of the Honeywell in an earth block terminal.

If the valves working Ok, just change the synchron motor. From what you describe, and the slowness of the valve moving across it's just the motor needs changing

Danfoss are clever with this, they want the resale on the whole head.

These white actuator heads are double insulated and the motors (orange wired synchron) are pop-riveted onto the plate.

We were replacing these 3 monthly before we realised it was the water section. If you remove the head, rotate the water section slowly to check for resistence. Also check the rotating projection is not leaking. Inhibitor greatly improves the lives of the rotating shoe type valve - which might give you reason to just change the head, or motor (in some cases) as previous poster advises.
