Can you please advise if it is possible to descale a 9kW Mira Sport Heater Tank which has furred up within 8 months from new. The Shower head is descaled (with citric acid) every 4 weeks.

I would also like to know the answer to this question. Is it OK to remove the tank & fill with citric acid solution or regular descaler?

Yes, I descaled my shower last Sunday & it's working a treat again 🙂

Many thanks for the info gassafe. I like your method of doing ity. i was going to remove the tank but this is neater!

I would have removed the tank but it looked quite fiddily on my shower, connecting it up this way ensures all the parts got descaled... Good luck with your project!

I have always used Kilrrock it is what the vending machine manufacturer near here was using many years ago and I just happened to ask at my fixings company why they had about 100 litres of descaler as it seemed a lot for a small company to stock !
It works a treat but the smell is awful .
I use it on kettles showers and even toilets it works best with boiling water .

Whats the fault please? Overheating and tripping out after afew secs??

Replaced the previous Mira shower about 8 months ago as the flow (with any warmth) was down to a trickle.
The water is very hard and the shower head scales up quickly and I clear that with a citric acid 'bath' about every 3 to 4 weeks which keeps it clear. However to maintain the same heat I have had to turn the knob further & further towards 'hot' over the last 5 months to maintain the same level of heat. As the heat is controlled by the flow rate this mean that to get reasonably warm water the flow is now down to a trickle again.
There is no problem with the filter as there is a very strong flow if the temperature is turned to cold.

No overheating or tripping out.
