got a call last night off a customer, cylinder was leaking from tappings, was told he had new one sorted so agreed to go round today, customer has bought house to do up, opend the cylinder cuboard door to find a right mess, the vent pipe coming off the hot water was like a wet n wild slide up to the tank, boiler vent pipe wasnt much better, imersion dissconnected and leaking from flow and return tappings, all in all very dsngerous.

After telling him that to put a new cylinder in it was going to have to be converted to s or y plan, with cylinder stat, imersion, new pipe-work ect ect, after i told him that and the cost of it he changed his mind and is now having a new boiler fitted with pipe-work, so all good for me.

It wasnt till i was leaving when he told me the tank in the loft had basically imploded and theyed had a big leak, and the other plumber never mentioned a word, where do these scumbags come from, needless to say ive discconected everything and made sure its safe>

I often wonder the same Andy ... How can people make a living out of doing shoddy work... Most work is surely word of mouth these days or are there still a boat load of custards who are unaware of the 'rouge trader' messages plastered across the tv screens?

the person who must of put this cylinder in was either drunk or blind, or both it really did just look like it had been chucked in the airing cuboard
