Downstairs no heating.

Hi all,
I had a call this evening about radiators only getting hot upstairs.
It's a vented system with the boiler downstairs in the kitchen.

The occupants have had couple of radiators relocated same rooms (downstairs I assume, didn't think to ask).

Any ideas as to why downstairs radiators not getting hot. I'm thinking it could be an air lock or blocked pipe?

Could the numpties who moved the radiators piped incorrectly?

What does one do in the event of an air lock? Would draining whole system and filling again solve this?

I would want to know when the radiators were moved, why and was it ok before. Might give you more to work from.

I didn't ask when but the problem started straight after the move....

most probably pump upstairs running on gravity

Yeah, 9 times out of 10 - if the upstairs is hot and the downstairs isn't hot then the pump has gone.
The 1 time out of 10 depends on if up and down are seperate zones, if they are then next thing to look at is zone valve. If they aren't zoned then it gets harder to diagnose 😉

ive had quite a few fail afterv drain downnot sure why but it does happen

I'm still not understanding how gravity would heat upstairs....

Hot water rises. You get gravity circulation to the upstairs radiators. Could also be 3 port, stat or timer failed and upstairs rads suffering from reverse circulation.

its about density bassmonster.
the hot water generated by the boiler is less dense than the cold water in the downstairs rads. therefore the less dense hot water gravitates to the upstairs.

p.s quick test on the pump then look at airlocks
