😕I wonder if anyone can advise me on a problem that has just started to occur with my radiators , all of a sudden the other day the downstairs radiators suddenly stopped heating , the upstairs ones appear to heating fine but the downstairs ones are not , i have tried bleeding them , drainling water from them . still no joy , on inspecting the pump i noticed it was rather hot , but it is running , i think its hotter than normal due to the fact the room thermostat is downstairs were the radiators are not heating so the pump is working harder , ive even inspected the three port divertor valve , the horizontal pipes leading from the valve appear to be hot so i guessed the valve is operating ok ? , as this tells me there is hot water going to the rads and the water , is this correct ?
Can anyone give me any ideas what to look for as the house is starting to get colder and with my daughter in the hse this is something i could do without .....Many thanks in advance ......Cheers

have you tried altering the speed on the pump ?
have you tried bleeding the pump ?
a pump can make a noise but not be circulating the water fully or at all.

i would opt for a pump problem.

the upstairs rads will still get hot as heat rises.

Thanks for the quick reply mate ...
I have altered the speed of the pump . which makes a different sound but still doesnt cure the problem , the pump at the minute is on speed 3 . i have also tried bleeding the pump, which appeared to let a little air out but again didnt cure it , its a nightmare .....

I never mate the pump was running when i b;ed it . does this make a difference like ?
Again thanks for taking the time in helping me ......

Just tried that step but nothing came out of it ?
I am off to sit my 17 th edition exam now mate , but thanks for your help all the same , i will be back at 5 ish so hope the next step will fix it ......cheers

Well passed that exam . thank god , haha
, so back to the heating . still no joy , unfortunatly , could it be the divertor valve at fault , or wouldnt the upstairs rads heat if that was faulty ? thanks

Try turning off the hot water at the programmer (assuming it is a pumped primary) and all of the radiators apart from one of those that is not getting hot and see what happens.

On our syatem its hot water and heating at the same time . i did turn all the rads off upstairs , hoping this would heat the downstairs ones up but the feeds monly got warm and the rads didnt heat properly....Thanks , but still no further forward .....
