Hi, I would be extremely grateful if anyone could help me with this problem.

I have just replaced my programmer because the hot and cold water "on" lights were glowing dim and the boiler would not fire up, the programmer was old and the switches kept sticking when you pressed them in and they felt not quite right.

I replaced the programmer with a Drayton LP241 making sure the backplate was the same and the fully pumped system switch mode was on.

When I switched the electricity back on all the lights just flash, that is the display backlight and the heating and hot water "on" lights as well just flash on and off, there is no number display and the override buttons do not do anything.

Is this the programmer faulty, do I need a plumber, heating engineer or an electrician to fix this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Mick

Check there is 240 v on the backplate, check its on the backplate correctly... ( did you replace backplate or re-use old one...) old one may have had loose contacts...
Check the fuse in ch spur is 3 amp for gas boiler... If it still flashes go & swap for a new model.

You did not say what the old programmer was... I'm guessing its a straight swop?

Yes it's on the plate OK, I left the old plate on and just replaced the programmer after making sure it's all the same wiring etc.

My boiler is an old oil fired one

I would replace the backplate for the new one supplied... The dim lights on the previous model may have been due to a poor contact... Unlikely, but it has to be tried first I would say.

Thanks I'll have to try that tommorow when I have more time, any suggestions if that doesn't work?

Would an electrician be able to sort this if I am unable to do this as we have one in the village?

Thanks for your advice, much appreciated
