newbie1

Hi following on from another thread have decided to invest in a dry pipe/air pressure tester and have looked at
1/rothenburger
2/regin
has anyone used either
the regin is in a kit 135.00 and rothenburger about 65.00
just a quick question how long does it take roughly to pressurise say a 7 rad system with a combi with air using one of these or a cheap b@q compressor and do you do the same as with water ie fill and bleed a bit or just pump it up to about 2.5bar

please no replies about why or when etc just some informed info about how and method and time taken etc as i would rather spend 15mins testing with air than 2 hours clearing up water and then either cutting out a joint or smothering it with flux and blasting it toget solder to run again
thks
migo you seem to use these so please pipe up(exuses the pun)

i use one and it doesnt take long to preasure up a seven rad system 10 mins at most but it will obviously depend on the size of air pump you use ive got a small compressor ive had 20 years
not sure what make my tester is but there all the same realy although when you say regin are you sure thats not one soley for gas with the bulb type pump?
if you do test gas with air from a compressor remember to issolate the meter as they dont take preasure kindly usually splitting in two pieces with a very loud bang
how do i know ????a friend told me lol

think they can be used for either..i will only be using for rad pipes etc
regin is a kit but 135.00 rothenburger is the 9.6v pump and seperate gauge and tester but seems good quality will amke a couple of calls tomorrow just wasnt sure if their small pumps are a bit feeble

most plumber merchants will do the testkit for about £20 its just a tee with a shrader valve in and a push fit to conect to pipe
small aircompressors are 50 in wickes band q etc

sorry newbie, missed the post.
small domestic system, using my 10 litre b&q own brand compressor, takes less than 5 minutes to "fill"

the thread on the compressor is only 1/4 inch. i used standard bushes to reduce up to 1/2 inch, then a male iron to copper. put pushfit 15mm into that
now i have a piece of polyplumb that i can adapt to whatever instalation i like

think the whole thing was 40 quid. aldi ive seen sell these cheape compressors as well

hope that helps. soz again for taking so long, next time pm me
