so I took a job on to finish another plumbers boiler as he had walked off site, to cut a long story short , as I was filling the system up with the external filling loop I noticed the pressure gauge wouldn't rise .......... not one bit!! Worcester combi it was, so I opened her up , everything looked connected , the prv wasn't discharging so I assumed there was not much pressure coming into the house, as I could nearly stop the mains at tap with my hand. I didn't have my pressure clock in the van so couldn't test the system pressure. so I informed the builder of the problem , and told him the bad news that the system wasn't suitable for the incoming mains, and I would look to see if there was something to boost pressure available, he was now somewhere between mad-angry-crying-crazy-shouting-swearing on the phone with me, as the house was all finished, and the cowboy plumber had ran away with his money before finishing etc. anyway when I was there tonight I found the problem , very embarrassing for me, I didn't tell him what it was, and told him it was just air trapped in the pump and its ok now as I was able to top her up to 1.5bar. now first to guess what my problem was!!!!!!? but don't tell anybody as I might have to go back to yr 1 in collage and loose my gs and tools if anybody finds out lol!!!

Non return valve installed the wrong way on the loop.

In the old commercial days there was an iso valve fitted below the gauge to allow easy change over of faulty gauge so was there one here?

same bat time, same bat channel!!!!

spent 6 hours today bleeding a radiator!! only to find out I hand piped it up to the bloody gas pipe!!! ...... silly me!!!! hahaha only joking on that one, did pipe a water pipe to a gas inlet on a water heater once tho, but I was only 16!! I was helping my dad (a non gsr farmer) , because I wanted to be a plumber he made me help him to change a morco water heater in a shed on the farm!! very dangerous looking back!! remember helping him to change a radiator in the conservatory as well , my job was to run and get pans from the kitchen and empty them fast!! my mums job was to drive down to the local village at around 9pm to the plumbers house to get him to come over as he would not answer his phone ,this was as our house was flooding ...... haha, fair play he did come straight away and took me on to do my apprenticeship, probably to save him from having to come over to finish jobs my dad had started, he was also forced to use bits my dad had in the shed to do these jobs to save him money on materials!! bits of old pipe, used fittings ect!!! needles to say I now do all the plumbing, and use materials from my van..... this saves him money on materials and labour!!
