I'm hoping that someone can help me. I have a pressurised indirect hot water system, and I noticed last summer that there was water dripping at the tundish. I measured the pressure at the top of the expansion vessel and found it to be zero. I therefore called in a plumber to take a look. He turned off the water, opened the hot taps and then recharged the vessel to 3 bar. Everything then seemed to be fine. However, the vessel has started making a loud "whooping" when a hot tap (or sometimes a cold tap) is turned on. It doesn't do it every time - usually only when no taps have been on for a while. It's starting to happen more often, though. I’ve attached a recording of the sound (zipped mp3 file).

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? The hot water cylinder is a Kingspan Indirect 210L and the expansion vessel (supplied by Kingspan with the cylinder) is a Zilmet 110 Ultra Pro. Our incoming cold supply pressure is regulated at 2 bar.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

If you are sure your incoming mains is 2 bar, its normal 3 bar ..... Get your plumber back and reduce the expansion vessel to 2 bar .it should cure it.

Also please definitely ensure that your plumber is G3 registered for your safety. Illegal to work on them otherwise

As above. It is illegal for you to attempt a diy repair on an unvented cylinder and it's associated controls.
