ive seen em rolling around under kitchen units, and also chucked under fibreglass in lofts, you will probably find a thing saying they have got to be fixed and all that, but the ones mentioned ive seen were fitted by service guys for the big brand names boilers

normally they cant go horizontal, something to do with how the rubber inside sits

so how do you explain how these work ok as horizontal rubber and vert rubber membraines, makes b all difference, just have the pipework on the bottom if possible

Altecnic and Flamco external expansion vessels are not supposed to sit horizontal, i know because theyre the 2 brands supplied by plumbcentre and i install them all the time

http://www.flamcogroup.com/files/manual/man.uk.Flexcon.v090827.pdf looks like you can install them either way iaw their manual at section 3 and the altenic manual doesnt say you cant mount vert/horizontal as a preference from what i could see either. there is nothing in the manufacture of the vessels that would really affect which way they are mounted as different vessels all work ok no matter what plane they are installed in.
