Falkirk Council to spend £2.3m improving more than 600 homes[/h]More than 600 homes in the Falkirk area are to be upgraded after the council approved a £2.3m renovation programme.
The authority's policy and resources committee gave the go-ahead for properties in more than a dozen sites to get the improvements.
About £1m of the money will be spent on installing new central heating systems in nearly 500 homes.
Falkirk Council will spend the rest on rough-casting and re-roofing more than 100 houses in the area.
The authority said 11 locations will benefit from the new heating systems including Hallglen, Bonnybridge, Denny, Dunipace, Banknock and Camelon.
Councillor Craig Martin, convener of the committee, said: "We have an ongoing programme of works to our Council properties that will ensure our tenants have a safe and warm environment in which to live.
"This investment will ensure our properties also come up to meeting national standards set for the coming years."

Working in Falkirk area just now. The builder hired his labourers from a bunch of guys drinking tea beside a roadside cafe van. Job is swarming with shifty looking characters who are masters in disappearing acts and speak about three words of English between them.

trouble is that 1m spent of heating systems dont get near the installers back pockets. They will pay peanuts for a full heating system and it will get fitted by monkeys on poor wages. Still there will be 500 bottles of cleaner and inhibitor going cheap in the area LOL.

Just worked it out that's only £2k per unit so not bad forget my inane ramblings tis the wine honest guv!
