Ferroli 31c constantly calling for hot water????

Evenin lads just went to the above pile of poop which on the display is constantly calling for hot water. I isolated the cold water going into the boiler and the fault remained on. Fan was running but the boiler didnt ignite.....just wondering what it could be....any ideas apart from axing it?? Cheers.

Sounds like a sticking flow sensor ... Can't say I've ever worked on one mind... How is the hot water flow detected, hall effect turbine, diaphragm pressure switch?

Okay just checked mi's and there's a thing called the "flow meter" ... 🙂 My guess would be that's stuck 'moogwai'

had a similar problem with a potterton turned out to be the pcb, but the boiler practically destroyed itself when it kept overheating, needed new av, prv etc

I was thinking it may be a flow sensor when i driving home. Thinking i will try that first but take a pcb with me. And its not the greatest installation ive seen.....had a struggle to get the casing off as its pushed right up against some pipework!!!

If it showing F42 fault code that is the flow sensor.

Does sound like the flow switch however it may work is stuck. It's probably not firing up because the water temperature is already ok. But failing that I'd imagine the pcb.
