hi guys,

got called to a ferroli modena 80. will not fire up on hw or heating

on powering the boiler with heating on demand, the pum runs but nothing else. neon 5 flashes indicating low pressure, pressure is fine but bypassed pressure switch to make sure. still nothing. bypassed fan pressure switch, still nothing.
then noticed after a bit more tickering, that neon 5 stayed lit (POWER SUPPLY FAULT). checked power to fan, 47V, obviously not right, should be 230/240v and pressure switch was 13v, not sure if this is right or wrong for this boiler

im thinking pcb but i really dont wanna be wrong on this one

any advice

have u run through the fault finding sequence in the manual before assiming pcb, have a look first http://www.ferroli.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/brochures/archives/Modena 80 E Manual.pdf

Yes, but it asks me to see if RY100 is on and I've no idea how too!!

it does however say 230v should be at the air pressure switch but I'm only getting 13v and the fan should also have 230v but I'm getting 47v.
Only a bad board could cause this surely!! Or an I totally wrong? I'm still learning

Have you lost your neutral ?

I don't think so but will check again. I did test between the live and earth to see the results and got the same readings

anyone know why the pcb part number in the mi does not actually match the pcb installed? I think I've found the right pcb, 39807690, but that's not the one listed in the mi

Older models have 2 boards an ignition and main.
The newer ones have one PCB as in the 102 model.

Is it a 3 wire APS on this boiler? By the looks of it, the power for the fan comes from the APS. Have you checked all the connections are ok?

Only a 2 wire air pressure switch.

im intrigued though how you say the power comes from the aps!

if the aps is there to ensure that the fan is working, surely it wouldn't provide the power supply to the fan or am I missing something

Looking at the manual in the wiring diagram it looks like a 2 wire switch.

In the MI's fault finding, chart 4, it says "Is 230v present across fan terminals?" > No > "Check air pressure switch wiring connection"

did that mate, got 47v, air pressure switch provides continuity under load bug the voltage is/was only 13v. It doesn't however say what the voltage should be at the air pressure switch.

The other issue is the water pressure warning light remains even if linked out

Why don't you phone ferroli if the they offer tech support they can advise you what readings to get at aps.
