hi am i correct in saying that the said boiler only lights with the cover off. is this an airflow problem possibly a blocked venturi. any ideas before i travel 30 miles

its got to be a flue promblem, fan, venturi
you need to take fan pressure reading, check venturi, aps, flue seals, check if restrictor fitted on flue

or a broken venturi plastic dont forget very prone to breaking up

As I found out when doing a service and foolishly removed the fan to give it a clean on a late friday afternoon when I first started on boilers. Luckily Pcenter left me a venturi under the wheelie bin before they all went home, so I got the wretched thing going again that evening, grateful custards never got me back next year to service that heap of rubbish tho.

ok thanks everyone. just replaced the fan, everything was clean as a whistle. the fan just seemed it wouldnt get up to speed. tho i have seen pcb problems giving same problems. the joys

How did you find replacing the fan?? (Or fitting the existing fan back in) We work on these most days the the fans are buggers to get off sometimes!
