hi all is there a preference for filling loop to the flow or return or no difference ta

Ditto. Always fit on return, but as chalked says, it makes no difference. If you come to think of it, the pressure guage on Ideal boilers is on the flow pipe.

just make sure you have a doc on the other pipe so you can isolate the boiler and flush around the entire system from the filling loop.

As a lot of the different types of systems we install use glycol in various places, as it is our usual practice to purge the glycol to get all the air out, we regularly install either a proprietary fill/flush loop or a fill / flush drain configuration with consists of full bore lever isolators and "appliance connections" (3/4" bsp connections) which makes maintenance and future flushing really easy 🙂

I like the idea of one each side of the boiler 🙂 may be we should put one on the flow / return to the buffer tanks.
