Hi all,

Was just garnering an opinion on the company Firstec Utilities and their recent recruitment drive which has me and many others questioning their advertisements.

They're offering £215 per day for Gas Engineers, they're asking for £2 Million Public Liability insurance including £5 Million Employer Liability insurance, for a guaranteed "40 hour contract"

Including:
"Min Requirements: Gas Safe Registered ACS: CCN1 CKR1 CENWAT1 HRT1 CPA1"

Does this seem too good to be true? Or am I too naive? I'm new to the game thus I'm not too weary of offers like this, are any lads on here working for a company similar to this and is there a catch?

Edit: The location of the post was up North, however just seen them advertise within my area (Stratford, East London) and the pay was £700 a day, c'mon now even solicitors don't earn this.

It's not employment if you are having to provide Liability cover.

Does it include you providing your own van and fuel and tools and equipment?

Are the hours continuous or at their calling?

And I think you'll find plenty of Solicitors earn more than £700 per day.

Fuel paid for apparently, van is provided "After 6 month probationary period"

Hours, again according to them are continuous (40+ according to the ad)

National average for a solicitor according to a recent salary survey is £42,000 - then again bare in mind they also averaged plumbers/heating engineers at £35,000 so I'm taking it with a pinch of salt.

Bare in mind, as mentioned above I'm new to the game and just wanted an opinion on these sort of advertisements from lads that have been here for a long time.

i think they will be wanting their pound of flesh and plenty of experience for the money

I paid £300 for 1 hour once but did involve a quick visit to the big house vs ex wife lol
