fitted new radiator now noe hot water

hello all, I would like to say sorry for just jumping straight in here with a question !

I have just re-tiled the bathroom while i was at it i thought i would change hte radiator for a new towel warmer. I drained all the radiator (I heard the expansion tank going so i locked off the ball cock until all water was gone) put new radiator on an removed the tie off from the ball cock. I had ran out of hot water to do the dishes so i thought I'll put the heater on for an Hr, after a while i noted no hot water, i thought maybe air in the system and teh pump not pushing water around. went up stairs to have a look and noticed my hot water cylinder was leaking from what looked like a valve. I quickly bled all the radiators but to no joy it was still the same, I turned boiler off and heard the valve either blow out air or suck in air, think it was the first one.



I have attached this lovely picture, I hope someone can point me in the right direction! I still got to more bathrooms and radiators to do 🙁

Just replace the valve that you think is blowing air out try to eliminate the obvious first.

Firstly,always turn the boiler and pump off when you're venting and let it all settle.Then vent the pump from the front.

Just an update, the leak nearly filled a bucket last night, nothing was on, all heating was off as was boiler. This morning i thought I would put both hot water on and heating to get the water flowing around the system. I now have hot water but no heating still, drained at bottom radiators to get rust out and hopefully some more air but what i don't understand is why it is constantly dripping from the air valve on the tank.

Just because nothing is "on" doesn't mean there's isn't water in the circuit. The circuit also fills itself up if need be, which is why there is a ball-cock for you to tie up on the f+e tank.

It's a bit odd that the automatic air vent leaked on a refill. It might have been about to leak at some point and a slight increased in pressure on a refill gave it an excuse.

Either way, air will be the most likely cause of your problems. Replace the valve and get air out of the system.
