Hi all, I was wondering if i could call on someone's expertise on this fire. I recently serviced (thoroughly) one as per M.I . There was no issues with flue pull, no issues with spillage although a bit tricky to conduct nevertheless ok. Gas rated the appliance to 5.9kw ... All good...... Had a call from the customer 3 weeks later with regard to the glass sooting up on the inside left panel mostly and in around the fire??. Went back to investigate thought maybe that the the coals were positioned slightly out , they looked fine but removed them cleaned all the soot out and checked out the burner assembly again and had a good look at the components etc all looked fine. I then repositioned the coals exactly as per M.I ...... Again. Gas rated it......spillage tested again , all good. Another 3 weeks down the line I've had another call from the customer .... Same issue.

Has anybody got any ideas please I just want to get it sorted.

Hi , if I remember rightly its about 10-12 inches long and flat to the fuel bed support with a retaining lip toward the back of it to sit the coal up to. I didn't notice any hairline cracks but i will inspect closer ,I've got to go back Thursday morning for further investigation.

Hi Atouchofgas, went back there and removed the burner to check it out closely ,couldn't see any hair line crack but noticed fluff around the burner aeration holes and a bit on the injector . cleaned it all off and lighted it and must admit flame looked better. Spoke to flavell tech too and they agreed that could be the cause but they were more inclined to say it was the positioning of A & B coals so again positioned them as per MI but I thought I did in the first place. Time will tell.....

thanks for the follow up.

It usually is something daft like fluff on the injectors. It's pretty hard to position the coals wrong if you have the mi
