flow direction - gadget/tool

Hi guys,

anyone know if theres a gadget that can somehow detect which way water is flowing through a pipe? might be a silly thing to ask but if yer dont ask, yer dont get!!

i have a plumber mate that connected the incoming mains cold and the hw outet the wrong way on a boiler. needless to say, the hw wasnt working. Baxi cam e out apparently, put something on pipe and told him instanty that he had got them the wrong way around

went on a baxi course and its either the hall effect sensor or the flow turbine on the later models only works one away (wish i,d paid attention now)

i was thinking there must be somthing. the likes of the utilities companies etc must have somthing .
