Hi guys got home and had a letter from gas safe saying they want to do a "competency inspection appointment"

does this mean someone has made a complaint about me or is this a normal thing? Not had a inspection before and I've been registered for 5 years now and just reseat all my gas.

it says they want to me arrange access to 3 different sites for the inspector visit and inspect the gas work under taken, does this mean I can book say a boiler service or fire service?

any advice would be good.

thanks guys

did you not have an inspection within the first year of being registered on the scheme??

they do still do inspections on engineers even after a few years

Come to think of yep did it years a go

what type of work will he want to see? Boiler service fire service?

If they are allowing you to choose I would not worry. Don't go for a back boiler job though....I did a few years back but it turned out that the guy was on the audit team when they first came out......that was a hard inspection. Show them some nicely clipped pipes and proper condensate termination.

So if I can book in a boiler service and a landlords gas check would that be enough do you think or do they want to see a boiler i have fitted?

I took the inspector to a block of new build HA flats, the flats had 37kw boilers in ????? pipe sizing was suspect to the top floor flats in 22mm, condensate and blow off terminated under the sink, gas pipe not sleeved through wall and not sealed and meters not marked with flat numbers........ on a plus point it was all obvious

im thinking ill line up 3 landlord gas certs if i can for him that sould keep him happy i hope

I would have thought that he would like to see some of your installations rather than you inspecting other people's. in the Corgi days I used to line up 3 different types of install for the inspector to visit.

i usually get them to meet me where ever im working mostly they want to get away as quick as possible showing them service work is fine as for many blokes that will be all they do alernativly get them at home and service something there
