Occasionally when fitting gas hobs I disconnect the fitting on the job where the fibre washer is an apply paste to both sides of it. In the long term will the paste have an effect on the fibre washer? I only ask as know you aren't ment to use gas PTFE and paste on male threads as the past can corrode the PTFE. Thanks.

Normally use compound to hold the fibre washer onto the alu elbows as you can’t get a finger / another hand in to hold it

As per shaun, i often find leaks on these because if they dont get a smear of paste, they eventually shrink a little then micro leak. Have to then disassemble ,thin smear of paste, then re-assemble. Also see a lot of the Ali inlet elbows with PTFE that turn a bit leaky. Maybe its not gas PTFE thats been used though.

Thanks yes the Alu. Elbow you then screw a mail fitting on to. This should be 1/2 male taperd but most merchants don't have taperd male threads.

If your on about your connection eg 1/2 male iron the. This should be ptfe or loctited in

What is the difference in threads shown here at the bottom. I only knew parrall and taperd thanks.
