Any idea what this blue thing is?

Its probably about as useful on the gas pipe as on the water pipe. Do they seriously work?
I've never understood how they could possibly work but some boiler manufacturers want them on incoming supply. I think they are bs.
Maybe it's magically magnetically reorganizing the gas molecules.

Not seen one on gas but I have on a oil supply ?? Any ideas Simon, maybe its to attract shale you get in gas pipework especially steel pipework ?? Who knows 😏

I have come across several on oil supplies to boilers. The idea is the magnet realigns the molecules and helps improve combustion efficiency. Unfortunately kerosene is non polar and therefore can't be realigned and these magnets don't actually do anything. I can't speak for gas though.
