glow worm 24cxi with a fault 5, new pcb needed?

Hi, my glow worm boiler has just come up with the F5 message which is apparently due to over heating. A plumber has said that it's the pump not working, he says the pump seems to be fine but there is no current going to it from the pcb so apparently I need a new pcb. Is this right? Just want a second opinion as the cost of pcb's are high!

the same happened last year and a different plumber changed a valve (don't know which) and reset it and that solved the problem.

Am I going to have something happen every year? I've only had it 6 years.

Hi ncossa - If the boiler has overheated the overheat thermostat needs manually re-setting. Once re-set you can then test the operation of the controls ... Not 100% sure but the o/heat tripping out may also isolate power to the pump? Worth checking before ordering a PCB I'd say 🙂

thanks Diamondgas, I've tried resetting it and restarting boiler but it trips out again. just been quoted £322 for new pcb and installation. eek!

Well some of the big boys are offering one off fixed price repairs ... I've sent a cupl of my customers to them when an expensive part has been needed. I dare not mention them on here though or Ill be lynched!!! lol

thanks again, the one off price is £199, a saving of £123! I'd like to be loyal to original plumber but that's just too much of a difference and it gets fixed faster. Thanks again!
