Hi all,Got a call off a lady saying her radiators wernt getting warm,i turned on the programmer and the boiler fired up for 2 mins then went off.I checked the pump and when you turn the heating on the pump dosent start.but shes got hot water in the tank and dosent have an emersion heater.I only spent 10 mins looking as she has e on cover.
also the ch flow pipe is getting hot but the pipe to the pump is cold.
just curious what it could be
cheers

Sounds like gravity dhw & pumped heating,
I'd have check voltage to pump, if 240v it's the pump [240v across live to neutral, live to earth & approx 0v neutral to earth, if using a neon screwdriver makesure no voltage on neutral.]
Voltage on neutral means a broken neutral providing the polarity is correct.
If no voltage at pump check room stat for continuety when turned up, or voltage on both sides.
If no voltage there check clock

If a fully pumped system check syncron motor in zone valve when heating calling should be 240v , if so change the syncron motorg

Yes it a gravity dhw & pumped heating.Could a air lock cause the pump not to kick in?
Cheers

Remove pump vent screw, insert screwdriver try to spin it off will also bleed pump, if still doesn't work & there is power to pump, change it
