Dan-HybridHeat

Gas Engineer
Was servicing one of these today, turned the power back on to the boiler after cleaning it out and the fan was just pulsing. Tested the board and had all sorts of funny readings so called Glowworm who confirmed it was the board that had blown. Apparently if the boards are close to going pop, when you turn the power back on to the boiler it can't handle the power surge and blows the thing.

Anyone else had this? Same board on a load of their boilers so guessing its not just on this model.

I've had it a couple times! Absolute pain in the arse.

Bit awkward explaining it to the customer, specially when you mention the price of a new board...

If you take all Wiring harness off and heat board up with a hair dryer it will get you back up and running might not last but gets you out of the sh**t

Was told by Glowworm tech that if you leave it pulsing for approx 20 mins they can reset but not always- actually worked for me to my amazement. Obviously not a fix but enough to keep the ' it was ok before u touched it brigade at bay ' and gives you the chance to warn them while leaving a working boiler.

Was that just so they could keep you on the premium rate technical line for twenty minutes lol

Had this quite a few times now. If I really don't have to turn power off I don't!
