got to look at one of these tomorrow the older type with the black and white lcd . customer says it just clicks and goes to f1 no fan or spark .sods law cant find my training notes on these and the manual is hopless. need to know voltages to fan .

if the fan aint turning there wont be any volts to it 🙂
normally pcb burnt out, but test the thermistors first as fm memory if they go it wont kick off

Not sure what you mean by black/white lcd....... But f1 relates to gas not fan, as said previously it could be the board these had two, the original iris and the later symsi try pulling the lead off the valve to see if goes through the initial start up, if so then replace valve, if not your looking at board and possible valve at same time, because if the valve goes down (and there known for it) it can take out the board

small lcd display not the newer orange or blue . was thinking board on flexicom and later ultracom fan is 22 volt. will check gas valve . from what customer says they rest boiler and within 20 sec f1 appears .

bear in mind these can melt themselves,try to talk them into a service,fit the g10 gasket kit

replaced that just over a year ago mark

I had one of these with a perished seal at the back of the hex where the flue terminates too that gave these same symptom. Pig to change as there were no isolation valve on boiler so full drain down etc.

I'm finding more and more of these that have gone now,Molokai for any signs of water staining at the back of the boiler above condense trap. If you have stick your analyser up behind the heat ex it'll confirm whether the seal has gone and if the flue adaptor has cracked or even melted. If left too long it'll rot a hole through the back of the boiler, so it's something to always check for on a cxi/hxi/sxi
Also worth picking up a new condense trap as the hoses tend to split when you take them out.

is the plastic part and seal expensive
for the rear of the heat ex. I have found the trap condense pipe to split I now flush trap by pouring water down flue saves taking trap off which can be a pig if the pipe splits

just one thought the vaillant heat only is almost the same boiler do they have the same problems as the glowworm

the seal is about £8 not sure about the plastic flue duct. the few I have done were not that bad to need it

I've replaced mainly glow worms than vaillants, practically the same boiler but the xi's have been around for longer so time will tell lol..........
