I have worked in the plumbing industry for about 8 years. Were I work are putting me through my gas. To do this because of the high cost of the gas training centres and me wanting to get my NVQ level 3. They are sending me to college 1 day a week to do this. I feel I get more qualifications from this NVQ level 3 course as I also get unvented hot water. Core gas, boilers and water heaters, and LPG change over. Anyone else gone back to college later in the careers. Does anyone know how the gas training on the nvq level 3 will compare to what you'd get on a 4 week fast track gas course?

you will lesrn more as youre already working with a firm and get a genuine nvq at the end

Thanks yes. I am looking forward to the course. I am glad they have let me go down the NVQ route to get my gas. I will end up with a lot more qualification.

Thanks. I have realised over the years I should of done my NVQ level 3 straight after my level 2. I am lucky that work have agreed to put me through it. As I am by no means on an apprentice wage.

Defiantly do the nvq and insist on getting your portfolio folder straight away so that you can start filling in your on site evidence

They said I will get the portfolio after 5 weeks encase anyone drops out. I hope I can get the evidence as I mainly work on new builds. As I work for a building firm.

just start to take pictures and write a diary to transfer into the portfolio when you get it.

You are a time served plumber NVQ3 means very little to be honest

I have seen more and more jobs now asking for an NVQ level 3. Although I am happy were I am working I can see the level 3 benefiting me for life. Were as just going on a gas course gets my a qualification that will last 5 years.
