Got 3 Chicks on the go

Chickens.jpg

Got them a couple of weeks ago

already laying and have had over 10 eggs

I got some eggs the other week and hatched using a small incubator, brilliant, chicks growing was bit devastated when went away for a weekend and came back to find 1/3 of flock had died, but you've got to keep going, not ready for eggs for 8 weeks yet

A pal of mine has about 6 or 7 chicks and obviously produces more eggs than he can use, so I take what he don't need and I must say they are better and tastier than the battery stuff from the super market

These were all part of our familly a couple of years ago, 2 children, 13 chickens 2 cockeralls 3 ducks and 4 dogsdogs on bales 018.jpg were down to one dog now, most of em ate by foxes. not the children they flew the nest!

when i was a lad we used to keep bantams and ducks and had a couple of ex battery hens who when we got them were almost bare of feathers. i mean they were almost dead on their feet, within a couple of weeks their feathers had started to grow back and after about three months you couldn't tell how bad they had been.
