Some people should not be allowed behind the wheel at all cost.
I normally do not work weekends, but with jobs piling up, I decided to fit in Saturday and Sunday. BIG MISTAKE.
I went yesterday and got a parking ticket, WTF.
Today I went down to get an Ideal logic blow off pipe to use on the Independent I am fitting as it is on third floor. Normally, I retrieve it from back door of van. Just as I was about to open back door, customers neighbour's son and daughter came out. I said hello to the son but he ignored me? Him and his sister got into their car. I then realised I needed a spare pipe cleaning pad, so went to side door, opened it and then there was a loud bang.
The idiotic son had reversed at maximum speed into back of my van, both back doors damaged, bumper damaged and back doors now can't open. Had I been standing there, the outcome would have been catastrophic.
Turns out it was an automatic car. I told the sister he must have had it on reverse, she said NO, it was on drive. Yeah, right.
He has no insurance. What a joke. I should never have ventured out to work on a weekend

Are they paying cash for the repairs? if not I think I would be calling the police

You could always cancel your public liability and then burn the house down with your blow lamp in return?

glad to hear it wasn't any worse though, are they come thing up for the damage?

I might have got a hammer out of the side door for use on the son!!! best he gets a job to pay for the damage

The flat I am working at is not their house. Just that the customer asked their mum's permission to allow me park next to their drive.
The car had an L plate on it. When the sister asked what they can do, I said nothing as I am going through the insurance. She then told me she only got the car last week and brother is not insured to drive it? I was surprisingly calm (As I realised fate had somehow removed me from the path of assault. At the very least, both my legs would have been severely damaged.
Calling the police will actually not yield any results. They have phoned pleading that they repair van privately but I asked how am I going to go to work with van in or repairs?
Bought van 1st September. Only 780 miles on clock (for past two months, I have not worked more than 5 miles from my home).

In all honesty, I am just happy to have been ''spared''. Goes to show how fickle life is.

Absolute head bangers . I hope they pay for damages and I would've called it in . Especially as no insurance on there part. Good luck village I hope you get it sorted .

Don't let them off . I'm glad your ok but not calling it in gives them the chance to get away with costing you money and disruption of your business schedule

They thought nothing of driving uninsured. That deserves police attention if nothing else. What if he HAD hit you? How would he have compensated you for loss of earnings, or worse, limbs? What if next time he ploughs through a wall, causing a house to need rebuilding?

Very glad you're OK mate, but uninsured drivers make my blood boil.

Hope you can get this sorted VI. Glad it was not an injury to you. Watch out, that they fail to face up to their responsibility. Touched a nerve with me; last year I had a hit and run in a car park. Fortunately I had a reliable independent witness and CCTV. Bloke got £400 fine and 6 points. Recently the main car dealer damaged my car and are in denial, here we go again; they have till tomorrow before I take legal action. Get so frustrated with people that don't put their hands up to their mistakes.

Just throwing it out there, the minute you call it in wave good bye to any chance you had of getting it fixed!

It'll get fixed. It'll be down to the insurance company to chase the recompense.

Definitely call the filth though. You'll need a crime number.

The grandmother says if all else fails, I should ''talk'' to her!!! Today, he rang me and ask that I take the van to some crash repair specialist he knows in Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath. To keep the peace, I took time off work and went there. The bloke tried to talk about repairing door and bumper. At that point, I pointed out to him that I did not spend thousands of pounds on a brand new van so it can be patched. He agreed and said insurance would be better. So I have told the boys mum (who was in the car with him at the time of the accident - I thought she was the sister???) that she either puts it through her insurance or I will get the bill involved. She let him drive the car even though he was not insured to do so. Now, she must accept the responsibility.
In all earnest, I'm still not sure how he caused so much damage from a standing position?
