Greenstar 28i junior fan

Anyone had a fan go on one of these after swinging out for maintenance? Changed set of electrodes on one this morning as was failing to light after sparking (gas valve ok). Could literally hear the board on the fan fizzing at me before a little "pop". 2007 model

Had similar on a 42 CDI same age 2007, When i looked for a fan it said 'Replaces xxxxxxxxx'

dunno if the had some manufacturing faults that year ? or just improved the fan. Doesn't make you look good though does it, When the boiler don't work after you have touched it

Certainly doesn't after you've packed everything up, turning it back on expecting to be done and out the door and you hear it pop and that smell of burnt plastic. It's not as if I could put the plug in reverse as only goes one way...gutted! Will check parts arena later and see if worcester replaced that particular fan!

Yeah that's an old fan for that boiler lol, the new fan will be an improved model 🙂

Yeah they realised they made an error in its design and corrected it.

Now you don't have to have touched anything in the boiler for the fan to fail.

Tbh the fans on these boilers go for the most stupid things. If you leave them off for a week they go.

Cheers gents, that makes me feel a bit better now, was tearing my hair out and the customers where sat there in the same room whilst I was doing the job. Most embarrassing seeing as I'd diagnosed the faulty electrodes as the fault originally and witnessed the fan running before I removed it...Had a 25 mile round trip picking them up too!
