Guttering woes?

Hi,
don't know whether rain goods are within the remit of this forum but you guys may have some 'associated knowledge'? Basically I have to do some repairs/corrections to some of the guttering on my house and would like to match what I have. It looks as if the guttering is "Bartol", certainly that's the name on a some pipe clips, so I presume it's all the same make. Trouble is I can't find a supplier, by looking on the web. Maybe they've gone out of business, or maybe changed their name? Maybe even a model name and not a supplier at all.

I have some leaky joints that I need to fix - to me it looks as if the original guttering may have been cut short so there's not enough over the rubber seal. I think I may be able to drop in another connector to take up the slack in a couple of places. It looks as if one of joint wasn't actually screwed to the facia board as well - tut tut tut😱

bartol plastics is a subsidairy of hepworth.
bartol plastics ltd where based in doncaster.

so i would say try hepworth guttering etc is your first option.

i hate doing guttering but here's the basic gumph

the fall of the guttering should be 1 in 600.

Brackets should be placed at a maximum of 1metre apart

as for the gap you mentioned, you normally allow around 2 to 4mm for expansion of the plastic when it warms in the sun...the brackets tend to have an indication marker for it.

on vertical drops (downpipe), it should be clipped every 1.5metres and 6 to 8 mm allowed for expansion.

Im sure when we do repairs to existing rainwater guttering, we dont use brand specific parts, as long as you have the right shape and size. (either half round, squared or ogee).

Like Nick says, you just need to match up with the size of guttering you have. Brands do vary particularly on downpipe size so maybe take a short length of gutter or a joint to your merchant and try to match the size.

I understand the point about expansion, but I suspect the guy who fitted it may have worked it in their favour. No worries, you've given me enough to work from. Fortunately the bits that I need to attend to are low height or above a low angle sloping roof so I should be able to manage reasonably easily.

Bartol was actually taken over by Hepworth.

Polypipe is compatible with Bartol and widely available.
