We recently installed a Grohe Rapid SLX frame/cistern and connected it to a Grohe Sensia Arena wc/bidet.
We found out too late (after everything was tiled in and operational) that the 'pre-flush' and 'auto-flush' functions rely on Grohe part 46944001 (auto-flush kit).

Grohe have been rather evasive when asked the question whether the kit can be retrofitted to an already operational unit. Their answers have been contradictory and unconvincing. Frankly, I think they don't know themselves.

So, now I'm asking the 'experts'.
Has anyone tried to do this?
Can it be done?
What are the pitfalls?

Never fitted one but,,
It must be possible to fit it after the frame is tiled over otherwise it couldn't be repaired / maintained.
It may need the wc pan to be removed.

This video shows the autoflush kit being fitted, I'd say it can be fitted without removing the w.c pan, just the access cover on top.
It may take a bit of fiddling to get the seat cable down from cistern to pan, or is that already in?

Amusingly, Grohe promotes that video as instruction for fitting the kit, despite the fact that the video doesn't show a w.c. pan at all and the procedure followed does not according with the Grohe documentation.
You've hit the nail on the head though. The tricky part is going to be threading the connecting cable down the frame and into the pan, then connecting to the seat.
In our case the system is all up and running (without the extra kit), so we're hoping that we won't have to take the wall-hung pan off the frame.
