Devalbathrooms

Hello everyone,

I own a bathroom company with my husband in Cambridgeshire and have joined to keep a finger on the pulse of the plumbing and bathroom fitting world and not just be the 'woman in the office who knows nothing'

We will also be looking to recruit in the near future and in return for wanting to employ the best in the industry I would be interested to know what would make you want to work somewhere, not just pay but also time off, incentives, perks, bonuses etc.

I may not be able to offer anything to the forum when it comes to plumbing but you never know!

Thanks, Cheryl

Welcome along Cheryl and feel free to chip in on anything you like. We are all quite nice helpful people here and i am sure if you stick around you will learn a bit.

To answer your question: personally speaking if you want the "best in the industry" you have to pay top dollar. Good guys are not easy to come by and the best are usually head hunted by those in the know. The best are usually doing their own thing but you can get them on board through contracting.
Time off is important for some, especially the younger ones, incentives are nice (week in majorca to combine 2 birds) pensions are good but not always appreciated.
Everyone is different but usually it all comes down to the bottom line. They have bills to pay and families to feed.
You don't really need all your guys to be the among the best in the industry (skill and knowledge wise) but depending on the work you are taking on, you do need a really good (working) supervisor who can keep the rest of the team on track and guide them as need be.

You have now joined a community of lots of good guys with experience in every aspect of the trade. Feel free to join in and use it (us)
