Hi, I have just joined this forum to try to get some help with my taps. Being on my own I like to try to do things myself before I get someone in.
The problem started yesterday,(yes, Christmas Day). The hot tap in the bathroom started making a loud thunking noise when turned on and then would not stop running for a while when turned off. Also, if another hot tap is turned on that bathroom one turns on by itself. I have drained the system but it is still happening. Any ideas please?

welcome to forum, if you want more replies, post your question in the plumbing forum.
in the meantime change your tap washer!!
good luck.

welcome,
the tap will need servicing.
seems like a 1/4 turn to me with proberbly ruber washers.?.

Thanks everyone. It is a cartridge tap and is the second one I have had in 3 years on the same sink. Have now contacted my local plumber but I was hoping to fix it myself. happy New Year.

For some reason 3/4 " ceramic are less common , they are quite expensive though should get some for around £20 , then theres the problem of them fitting the head from your previous tap.
