currently doing my gas course doing my portfolio at the moment have got to do the purge and light seem to remember my tutor saying something about system has to be purged and relit at a tempory bunsen burner when you are purging a boiler but is this only when it is above 35mm pipework?

is it just a case of undoing a nut furthest away and resealing until you get the desired purge volume as this is usually what im told to do with the gas registered engineer im working with ?

just want to make sure i get it right in my write ups

anything over 35mm is commercial. if your doing your domestic it will be another trick question, pick the easy answer
never heard of purging a domestic line with a bunsen burner, however will take some fotos for you of out commercial stack bunsen burner !
all covered by IGE/UP/1 (nope im doubting that now as well cant remember sorry)

think ive sorted it now it says in my viper book " for example, cooker hotplate burner or loosen a union prior to the inlet of an appliance" so im guessing that means say a nut on a compression joint before the boiler

rather then cracking the nut why not just open one of the burner ports that what i did during my assesment , and passed. dont forget to vent the room , inform the customer etc etc etc etc

ventilate room and inform customer im sure you can purge from cooker provided theres a constant ignition now or to atmosphere if theres only a boiler

the need to light when purging is down to pipework volume, if under 0.02m3 simply purge and ventilate, over 0.02m3 you need to light and purge
