i have a shanks Venetian toilet cistern, c1930, and i need a part for it, but have no idea where to find it. There is a metal rod that connects the hande to the Syphon. The syphon rod has a wide flat head on it that stops the connecting rod slipping when the handle is pushed down. This wide flat head has broken off, due to age. Does anyone know where I could find a replacement? I have attached a picture.

Thanks

85 years old? And you're looking for a new part? Surely a wind up?

Not a wind up, it's a lovely toilet, in keeping with the period of the house, and it worked really well, when it was working.

Am in edinburgh too. Used to deal with a lot of these in The Borders as an apprentice.
You can also drill the top and put a loop in which the arm attaches too .
