Hi all. Not been on for a while but will be back when the nights draw in and less jobs and holidays to fit in.

I'm after a bit of advice, I want to remove an immersion heater from a hot water cylinder before I weigh it in. The tank is 50 years old and so the immersion will require a bit of welly to remove.

Is it right hand or left hand thread? Is it useful to heat it with a blow lamp first?

Thanks in advance.

Alan

I agree with steveb but if you must it right hand thread anticlockwise to unscrew and plenty of heat

As you're weighing in the cylinder I'd go for the grinder, but if you've had a bad week just knock the snot out of it with a big hammer! 🙂

Thanks for that guys. I'll put some heat and a pair of large stilsons on it and give it a whack. If it doesn't move I'll reach for the hammer and chisel - no grinder.

Cheers
