help with one pipe system please

We started having our new Viessman boiler put in today and new fire, but the guy said that we have a one pipe system which is not designed to work with the viessman. It will work but with shorten the life of the boiler. Is this correct or does he just want more money?

Surely this extra pipe should've been quoted for when he came to give us the quote?

Hi. It is possible that on quoting the one pipe system was not noticed. There would still be a flow and return at the boiler, its not until you take boards up and check in more detail that these systems can be identified.(depends on the individual case) i have fitted them but i think they died a death in the late 60's early 70's. Are there grants available for up grading the system to something more fuel cost effective? Good Luck
